A Science & Nature UBC Summer Camp for Teens
August 5th - 9th, 2019
Williams Lake, British Columbia
Join UBC’s Faculty of Forestry and the Alex Fraser Research Forest on a one-of-a-kind science & nature summer camp designed for teens with interests in natural science. Based out of Williams Lake, British Columbia, this 5-night applied-learning, and digital-free program, is designed to inspire, connect and grow the next generation of forest and science advocates.
Clear learning outcomes support each experience with topics that include culture, history and science. Campers will learn greater context around indigenous history, colonial history, natural history and biology, forest and fire sciences, and basic outdoor skills. Campers will enjoy all the things that make a typical summer camp fun and memorable, including canoeing, bouldering, swimming camp-fire activities (if permitted) and making new friends.
This is an ideal program for teens from 15-17 that are showing a keen interest in our natural world, specifically science, forestry and developing their outdoor survival skills.
Maximum size: 50 Campers
Inclusions: Roundtrip transportation from Vancouver, all meals, lodging, activities, and instructor led course modules
On completion, participants will receive a Youth Certificate in Forest Sciences from UBC’s Alex Fraser Research Forest
