Overview: Need something to keep your child active and engaged while they are out of school during a Pro-D Day? Look no further than Wild & Immersive’s fun and educational Pro-D Day camps in the Fraser Valley! Let Wild & Immersive guide your child on a day of outdoor learning and adventure. Each Pro-D Day camp will focus on a different theme and group of activities.

Duration: 8:30am- 3:30pm
Rate: $65 per youth
Details: 40 spaces available for children ages 5-12. Children will spend the day outdoors, participating in hands-on and interactive activities all created around a nature-based theme. See below for each camp’s theme and to register! Please note, lunch and snacks are not included.

January 25, 2019: Winter in the Wild

Adventure through the frost covered forest to uncover the action packed fun this winter wonderland has in store! Youth can enjoy nature based games with various educational components to get them active and engaged in the forest! Learn about hibernation, how animals and humans can survive these winter conditions, and play games to explore the many changes that come when the snow falls and temperature drops!

February 14, 2019: Forest Explorers - Part One

Explore through the woods of the UBC Research Forest by playing games, learning about nature, developing leadership skills, and cultivating friendships in this inclusive natural environment. Forest Explorers can be done as a 1 or 2 part camp! In Part 1, youth will learn all about the different plant species in the forest, how to identify them, and more!

February 15, 2019: Forest Explorers - Part Two

Explore through the woods of the UBC Research Forest as a Forest Explorer Part 2! Keep the fun going or join us with another adventure packed day, this time exploring the various animal species of the research forest! These day camps will engage youth in a meaningful way to have endless amounts of fun all while facilitating forest based learning!

April 29, 2019: Taking Root

The snow beginning to melt marks the changing of the seasons, and kicks off the perfect time to frolic through the forest amongst the newly rooted plants shooting through the soil! Youth will embark on adventures through the forest learning about all the various tree species and the history of these lands. This camp will be an interactive environment to blend the perfect mix of learning and adventurous play!

May 21, 2019: Forest in Full Bloom

Those winter showers bring out the most beautiful spring flowers and fun is in full bloom here at the forest! Come explore with us, learn about all the local native plant species while participating in fun nature based games. Youth spring into blossom season where they can put their plant identification skills to the test and learn about pollination.

September 23, 2019: Magnificent Migrations

Look up to the skies and watch as tens of thousands of birds take flight along the Pacific Flyway that stretches some 15,000 kilometers from Alaska to Patagonia crossing right over the Lower Mainland! Learn all about the marvelous birds that journey thousands of kilometers to breed and feed! Youth will gain bird identification skills, play educational games, and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of protected areas for migratory birds!

October 25, 2019: Spawning Season

From the end of summer to early winter, the coast of B.C. becomes the gateway for spawning salmon as they return from their time at sea! Here in the research forest, we watch as our local fish species spawn in nearby streams. Come join us on a day outside the classroom to observe the early stages of the fish life cycle. Youth will explore these spectacular spawning streams, learn about the life stages of local fish, and gain a greater understanding of the role fish species play in the forest!

November 8, 2019: Geological Expeditions

Grab your pickaxe and shovels and join us for a day of geological exploration. Take a closer look at what lies beneath the Earth’s surface in the UBC research forest! Youth will learn all about the different rocks, soils, and ecology of this forest in an adventure based way including interactive games and activities to engage youth of all ages and interest levels!

Payment and Cancellation Policy: Full payment is due at time of registration. Registration can be cancelled with a minimum of 2 weeks notice, and a 50% refund will be issued. Cancellations with less than 2 weeks notice will not receive a refund.
